Aims

As a result of watching the programme, students will:

    • know about and understand attitudes towards women's role within the family during the twentieth century;
    • be able to use a range of sources to describe, explain and analyse the key features and characteristics of women's role and experiences within the family in the twentieth century;
    • be able to identify and explain change and continuity in women's role and experiences within the family in the twentieth century;
    • understand how the provenance of a source affects its content;
    • use evidence to substantiate an argument;
    • appreciate the diversity of women's experiences according to ethnicity, social class, region, religion;
    • think critically about the media as an agent of social control.
